QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court issued on Monday notices to the provincial home secretary and a deputy commissioner over Gazain Marri’s detention under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance after his lawyer challenged his detention before the high court.

A BHC bench comprising Justices Tahira Safdar and Zaheeruddin Kakar was hearing the constitutional application filed by Mr Marri’s lawyer Arbab Tahir.

The court ordered the home secretary and the deputy commissioner to appear before it on the next hearing.

A local court in Quetta had granted interim bail to Mr Marri in the Justice Nawaz Marri murder case while the antiterrorism court, Sibi, granted him interim bail in the Kohlu Levies station attack case against a surety bond of Rs400,000.

The district administration had issued detention orders for Mr Marri under the MPO law and police took him into custody before his release on Sept 29.
