HYDERABAD, Aug 21: The authorities of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, announced on Wednesday that the university has increased 394 seats for admissions in first year engineering, architecture and city and regional planning from the 2003-2004 session.

Earlier, the total number of seats for admission was 576, whereas from the current session there will be 970 seats.

It has also been announced that admission forms for admissions in the first year could be obtained from the designated branches of the Habib Bank Limited from Aug 25 to Sept 6 to be deposited in the same branches by Sept 13.

The candidates who secured at least 50 per cent marks (grade C) in intermediate (pre-engineering/general science group) are eligible to apply for admissions under the regular and self-financing scheme.

It has also been announced for associate engineer diploma holders, who have secured at least 60 per cent marks, that they are also eligible to apply for admissions against the reserved seats only.

RESULTS: The controller of examinations, University of Sindh, on Thursday announced the results of BA (Hons) part I, II, III, MA (Hons) final and MA (previous) semester examinations 2002.

He also announced the results of BSc(Hons) part I, II, III and MSc (previous) zoology and MSc (Hons and Pass) final zoology semester examinations 2002.

The results of MBA (previous) semester examinations 2002 of the candidates of the Sukkur Institute of Science and Technology had been announced on Thursday.

LAUNCHING CEREMONY: The Institute of Sindhology, University of Sindh, in collaboration with the department of culture and tourism, Government of Sindh, is organizing a book-launching ceremony for a book written by Prof Sahar Imdad on Aug 23 at its premises.

The vice-chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, will preside over the function, while Mehtab Akbar Rashidi will be the chief guest.

Dr Fahmida Hussain and Noorul Huda Shah will be the guests of honour on the occasion.

ADMISSION CANCELLED: The director, admissions, University of Sindh, has cancelled the admissions of Moezim Ali, son of Aijazur Rehman Arain, a student of geology, BS part I.

He had sought admissions during the academic year 2003 by producing tampered intermediate marks certificate.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The Isra University has announced scholarships for poor and meritorious students, seeking admissions in the Isra University.

The scholarships’ fund has been created by the Government of Sindh.

The vice-chancellor of the university said that the eligibility for scholarships would be based on the performance of candidates in the pre-admissions test, scheduled to be held on Sept 7, and successful candidates would be called for an interview.

It has announced that candidates could apply for admissions in the MBBS, Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Administration programmes.

The last date for submitting applications has been fixed as Sept 30.

It was informed that pre-admissions test should be considered as a test for awarding scholarships.
