KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday sought comments from Rangers and police on the plea of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Karachi’s president Dr Asim Hussain challenging his nomination in terrorists’ treatment and harbouring case.

Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh who was heading a division bench asked his lawyer why they were challenging the case so late when it was registered two years ago.

“It’s never too late, it can be heard now,” replied Dr Hussain’s attorney.

After hearing the arguments, the bench issued notices to Rangers and police, directing them to submit their respective replies by Oct 27.

Tania murder case

The SHC on Friday was informed by police that all suspects allegedly involved in the murder of Tania Khaskehli, a 19-year-old girl who was gunned down inside her home in Jhangara Town near Sehwan, were arrested.

Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh was hearing a suo moto case regarding the brutal murder of Tania, who was allegedly gunned down by Jhangara Town’s Khan Noohani earlier this month as she and her family turned down his marriage proposal.

DIG Hyderabad and SP Jamshoro appeared before the court and submitted that all accused including the prime suspect, Noohani, had been nabbed by the police.

The court was also informed that Tania’s family was shifted to Karachi and they were being provided police security.
