KARACHI, Aug 21: A reception was hosted by Urdu department, University of Karachi, at its Audio Visual Centre, to honour Japanese students, currently visiting Pakistan to learn about its culture and traditions.
Speaking to the visiting students, KU Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Saeed Saify highlighted the friendly and firm relations between Japan and Pakistan and said exchange of academics and student delegations played a significant role in maintaining good cultural and social relations between the nations.
The VC expressed hope that student and faculty exchanges would provide the citizens of both countries with a chance to know each other in a better way.
Leader of the Japanese students’ delegation, Prof Heroji Kataoka admired the mutual understanding and confidence that both the nations enjoyed and expressed his pleasure over learning of Urdu by Japanese students at the KU.
He also appreciated KU’s advancement in academic and research activities and designing of new projects to promote science in the country.
Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof Dr Abuzar Wajidi, and Dr Moeenuddin Aqeel also spoke on the occasion.—PPI
