SIALKOT, Aug 20: On the orders of a civil judge, Naikapura police on Wednesday registered a case against its suspended SHO, an ASI and other policemen for kidnapping and illegally detaining the DBA president and his son a few days ago.

In his petition, Muneeb Hassan alleged that he and his father Munawar Hussain were humiliated and disgraced by SHO Sajid Nazir, a close relative of Daska tehsil nazim Ejaz Ahmad, ASI Nisar Khan and other policemen. He further alleged that they had also snatched a wristwatch worth Rs30,000 and Rs8,000 in cash from his father.

Unravelling the causes of police action against them, he said his father was the only eyewitness among lawyers of July 25 Sialkot jail tragedy. He said that his father had held the police responsible for the shootout in which several judges lost their lives.

Since then the petitioner said that the Sialkot police had been threatening his family of dire consequences if they continued uttering unfavourable remarks against the police.

Taking a serious note, civil judge Imran Khursheed ordered the Naikapura police to register a case against its SHO and other policemen. The Sialkot DPO had already suspended the SHO.

Meanwhile, on the appeal of Sialkot district bar association, lawyers continued their agitation for the third consecutive day against police highhandedness.
