LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Asif Mahmood has submitted a resolution to the Punjab Assembly seeking that the Justice Baqir Najafi Commission report be tabled in the house.

In his resolution submitted to the assembly on Thursday, Mr Mahmood welcomed the Lahore High Court decision to public the judicial inquiry report into the Model Town tragedy. Also, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mahmoodur Rasheed told reporters the LHC decision to make public Justice Baqir Najfi report was a foundation for the “Naya Pakistan”.

He said the report would be instrumental in the downfall of the “Gullu Butt government”, and added that the killing of 14 people in the guise of encroachments removal would expose fake “khadim”. He said this matter would not end with the resignation of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif but would land him in jail.

The opposition leader demanded that the names of all those influential, who kept the report secret, also be exposed. He demanded that all accused nominated in the FIR of the Model Town case should be put on exit control list.

Mr Rasheed said the president would not pardon punishment extended to Nawaz Sharif. “If the president pardons Nawaz Sharif, the nation would not pardon him,” he said.
