QUETTA: Karachi overcame Gujranwala in the opening match of the Balochistan Polo Tournament which began here at the Polo and Saddle Club on Wednesday.

Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Aamir Riaz, the chief guest on the occasion, formally inaugurated the tournament organised jointly by organised by Pakistan Army and Shaheen airline.

Karachi beat Gujranwala 4 1/2-3 in the tournament’s first match watched by senior civil, military officials and a large number of polo fans. Teams from Army, Karachi, Gujranwala, Gilgat, Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad are taking part in the event which will continue till Sept 24.
