KARACHI, Aug 19: The organisers of the opening Test seem to have not done their homework properly by overlooking one important factor.

Suppose if a major fire breaks out in either the main pavilion building or any of the enclosures what will the organisers do? Will they call for the fire brigade to extinguish the flames?

At the time of filing this report, there was not a single fire extinguisher in the vicinity of the National Stadium.

The caretakers of the stadium were so engrossed in their own affairs that they forgot to clean up the stained name boards on top of the enclosures, which had been named after greats of Pakistan cricket. It appears as if the boards have not been been cleaned for quite some time as the dust and dirt has almost obscured some of the names.

Meanwhile, there was sluggish response to the first Test in the city for nearly 32 months when the tickets were finally made available for sale on Tuesday.

However, Bangladesh’s low-ranking hasn’t prompted a mad rush. Most of the people coming to the match are either professionals on duty or those who are lucky to get free passes.
