Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lt Gen Nadeem Raza in a visit to the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday warned that the corps would "respond aggressively and effectively to any Indian miscalculation or misadventure" along the Pak-India border, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement.

The corps commander visited the Battal and Dawarandi sectors in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where he "appreciated the high morale of the troops" and their "effective response" to ceasefire violations by Indian troops, read the ISPR handout.

Lt Gen Raza, while speaking about India's surgical strike claims ─ which have been denied by Pakistan ─ reiterated the troops' resolve to respond to such "misadventures" in the future, ISPR said.

India claimed to have carried out ‘surgical strikes’ against 'launch pads of terror' in Azad Jammu and Kashmir days after 19 Indian soldiers were killed were killed during an attack on the Uri army base in September 2016. India had also accused Pakistan of involvement in the Uri attack while Pakistan denied all such claims.

Following the alleged strikes, tensions between Pakistan and India soared, with cross-border exchanges of fire becoming a new normal. India also stepped up a drive to diplomatically isolate Pakistan on the international platform.
