SARGODHA: The black coats on Saturday locked Assistant Commissioner Dr Anam Sajid in her office following exchange of words between the officer and the lawyer. She was later rescued by police.

According to sources, a local lawyer, Rana Willayat, was arguing his appeal in the court of the AC. During the arguments, the AC exchange hot words with the lawyer and directed her staff to expel him from the court.

At this, juniors of the lawyer got enraged and locked the doors of the court and office of the AC.

On being informed of the situation, the city assistant superintendent of police reached the spot with his subordinates and rescued the AC after breaking the locks.

Police come to officer’s rescue

Following the incident, the local bar observed strike against the AC.

Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha contacted the bar administration and stressed the need for resolving the issue amicably.

DRAWS: The Punjab government is determined to provide all facilities to farmers so that they can get more yield from their land and provision of laser units on subsidised rates is a proof of its pro-farmers policy.

Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha said this while conducting draws for giving subsidised laser units to the farmers in the Defence Hall here.

As many as 159 applications from all over the district were received from the farmers for laser units. After draws, 81 of the applicants were picked who will get subsidised laser units. It is learnt that the government is providing Rs225,000 subsidy on each laser unit.
