Kidnapped man escapes

LANDI KOTAL, Aug 18: An eye specialist, Dr Masoodul Haq, who was kidnapped from Bara on July 20, escaped from his captors’ hideout in the Khyber Agency and reached home on Monday.

Dr Masood was kidnapped from the Bara-Jamrud road on July 20 when he was going in a car along with another doctor to his clinic in Bara. The car was later recovered by the political authorities from the area where the Sipah tribesmen reside.

Dr Masood said that after escaping from the captors’ den, he took refuge in a house onwned by Gulai. He also identified the place where he was kept, saying the hideout was located in the Bar Qambarkhel region, 14km from Bara. Sources said Dr Masood was kidnapped by Fateh Khan, whose brother Mir Wali had been held by the political administration.
