SIALKOT, Aug 16: Three teams, holding probe into the July 25 jail tragedy, have finalized their reports, it was learnt.

Official sources told Dawn on Saturday that the inquiry reports would soon be submitted to the authorities concerned.

The teams constituted by the chief minister, the inspector-general of police and the Lahore High Court chief justice separately recorded the statements of eyewitnesses in the light of the FIR and supplementary statement lodged by Sialkot’s senior civil judge Yousaf Ojla.

Another team, probing the allegation that senior police officials ordered to open fire in the jail, has yet to complete its task.

Meanwhile, a Punjab government spokesman said on Saturday that the chief minister’s inquiry team submitted its report to principal secretary G.M. Sikandar on Friday (Aug 15).

“The sealed report will be opened after the return of the chief minister from abroad,” the spokesman said in a handout.
