KARACHI, Aug 16: Chief of the Sindh National Front (SNF) Mumtaz Ali Bhutto has said that the present government-opposition conflict is adding to the miseries of the helpless masses.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he pointed out that the apparently complicated issues of Legal Frame Order (LFO), President’s army uniform, ties with Indian government and the lingering Kashmir problem seemed uncompromising.

“The emerging scenario is vindictive of the fact that the government and opposition are wasting their energies on petty issues which are likely to neither benefit the masses nor redress their perennial problems,” he opined.

He said that the steep rise in prices of essential commodities had made people’s life miserable. The masses had pinned high hopes with the government when it took reigns of power following October elections.

However, he regretted, the elected representatives failed to come up to their expectations owing to the irresponsible attitude of both the treasury and opposition benches.

Mumtaz Bhutto challenged the government’s tall claim that the foreign exchange reserves had surpassed US$10 billion mark and indicated that health, education and agriculture sectors, which presented a grim and depressive picture, belied the claim.—PPI
