NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that time is ripe for across the board accountability of all corrupt elements, adding that Nawaz Sharif along with his family has come under the process due to the efforts of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan.

“It is just the beginning of action against corrupt elements. More looters and plunderers of national exchequer would come under the accountability net,” he said while addressing a gathering here.

MNA Imran Khattak, provincial minister for excise and taxation Jamshaid-ud-Din and district nazim Liaquat Khattak were also present.

The chief minister said that it was for the first time in Pakistan that a sitting prime minister had been disqualified from his post and his corruption was disclosed to the public. He said that Nawaz Sharif had criticised the PTI sit-ins and protest processions, but now he himself adopted the way of protests and marches.

Mr Khattak claimed that the provincial government was determined to expose corrupt government officers and political leaders. He said that they were not claiming that corruption had been eliminated, but it was reduced drastically.

He claimed that many seasoned politicians were in the line to join PTI soon. He said that the rival political parties were trying to make an alliance against PTI because they knew that they could not defeat PTI in next elections.

Criticising the PPP and ANP, Mr Khattak said that he was aware of the popularity of both the political parties, adding that they would be defeated in the coming elections.

The chief minister claimed that PTI had appointed all government employees through transparent process. He added that merit had been followed in all appointments. He said that Pakistan was passing through a critical time and people would have to come forward against corrupt elements to make it a progressive and prosperous country.
