RAWALPINDI: The Central Cabinet which met here today [Aug 9] under the chairmanship of President Ayub Khan, approved the agreement between the Afghan Motor Service and Parts Company and the West Pakistan Road Transport Corporation for running a bus service between Kabul and Peshawar.

The agreement is initially for one year and comes into force with immediate effect. The schedule of the bus service will be decided by the operating organisations.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal for setting up a diplomatic mission in Aden. The Cabinet also discussed the report of the Pakistan Delega­tion to the conference of senior officials of the Common­wealth countries, held in Nairobi in June this year, and approved the objectives of the conference.

The conference had considered matters relating to greater cooperation between the Common­wealth countries in the fields of planning and development, technical assistance and trade promotion.

[Meanwhile, agencies from Miranshah add,] the West Pakistan Minister for Tribal Affairs, Khan Ghulam Sarwar Khan, yesterday [Aug 8] assured Waziristan tribesman that no effort would be spared to develop North Waziristan Agency.

He was replying to an address of welcome presented at a combined Jirga of all the tribes of North Waziristan Agency.

The Minister informed the jirga that a 100-bed sanatorium in Razmak costing Rs 6.94 lakhs and a 12-bed hospital at Shewa had been completed.

In the education sector, he said Rs 60,000 were spent last year on the construction of four primary schools and Rs 10,000 on the upgrading of the Datta Khel school to the middle standard.

Scholarships ... were awarded to all the medical students and also eight engineering students from the Agency, he said, and added 10 more primary schools would be constructed this year at a cost of Rs 1.5 lakhs.
