ISLAMABAD, Aug 12: The Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has extended the admission date for the fall semester from August 16 to September 3 as the Punjab University is yet to announce its B.A/BSc result, official sources told Dawn.

It was decided on Tuesday at a special meeting presided over by the QAU vice-chancellor, U. A. G. Ihsani, after an in-depth discussion with deans and heads of departments, the sources said.

Earlier, QAU had announced August 16 as last date for admissions in its various programmes for fall session.

The QAU is a federally administrated university and has quota system-based admission policy with more that 50 per cent of its students coming from the Punjab.

An official in the admission branch told Dawn that the Punjab University (PU) vice-chancellor had promised to announce its BA/BSc result not later than August 29.

In response to a question, he said after the expiry of the extended date, the university would not facilitate any applicant.

Being critical of the biggest university of the country, he said, although it had computerized its examination branch but never announced its result on time.
