KARACHI, Oct 13: Unidentified people attacked and injured six personnel of the Indus Rangers under the Liaquat Flyover on Saturday night.
The injured shifted to hospital were identified as Inspector Javed Iqbal, constables Mohammad Ashraf, Mohammad Zahid, Shafaqat Ali, Zulfiqar and Mohammad Naseem.
The police said that rangers personnel of Indus Rangers 83 Wing were present in their van beneath the Liaquatabad No 10 flyover when some unknown people threw explosive material in the van. As a result, all six rangers men sustained injuries.
The law-enforcement agencies failed to arrest those who had thrown the explosive.
ACCIDENTS: Two people died in road accidents in the city on Saturday.
Ranjah, 50, was killed in a road accident in Clifton when he fell down from a mini-bus near Do Talwar roundabout.
Ranjha was critically injured and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The police said the minibus sped away.
In another road accident, two people riding a motorbike were knocked down by a speeding vehicle. They suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital where one of them was pronounced dead. The other one was in a critical condition and was identified as Shahryar, 50.
CARJACKING: As many as nine vehicles — three cars and six motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday. Three cars were hijacked by the bandits one each in districts East, South and Central.
Two motorcycles were hijacked one each in South and East.
