KARACHI, Aug 12: Five persons, including two children, died in separate road traffic accidents in different areas of the city on Tuesday.

A young man died and two others were injured in a road traffic accident in F.B. Area on Tuesday.

Police said that a passenger bus (JA-6366) of route 7-C rammed into a Suzuki pickup (KM-1062) near Aisha Manzil resulting in the death of Mohammad Fahim, 22.

Following the collision, the pickup that was carrying consignment of salt, caught fire due to petrol leakage. The pickup driver, Shakil and another Muhammad Zubair suffered burn injuries, police added. Both the injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police arrested the errant bus driver, Mohammad Niaz, from the spot.

In another road accident, a teenage girl died and her mother got injured in Gulzar-i-Hijri police limits.

Police said that Shabu, 17, was crossing the Super Highway near Al-Asif Square along with her mother Shah Bibi, 50, when they were hit by an unknown speeding vehicle. The young girl died on the spot, while her mother was injured. Both were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

A five-year old boy was crushed beneath a speeding passenger coach in Clifton.

Nadeem Ismail was crossing the road near Shah Rasool Colony, when he was crushed under the wheels of Safari Coach. The boy was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examination. Police claimed to have arrested the errant coach driver.

A three-year old boy, Ali Raza, died in a hit and run accident in Orangi Extension, while he was crossing the road near Chandni Chowk in Hashmi Colony. The boy died before he could be shifted to hospital. Details about the speeding vehicle could not be known till filing of this report.

A young man died and several others were injured, when a passenger coach over turned in Mochko on Tuesday.

Police said that a passenger coach coming from Hub over turned near Gulshan-i-Mazdoor in Mochko. As a result of the accident, an unidentified man died and several other passengers were injured.

DROWNED: An eighteen-year old boy drowned in a storm water drain Gulshan-i-Ittehad in Mochko police limits.

Police said that the body was recovered and shifted to the Civil Hospital for autopsy.
