KARACHI: Diamond Eleven and PIB Eleven emerged victorious in the opening fixtures of the third Muslim Khatri T20 Champions League Cricket Tournament here on Sunday.

In the day’s first match played at the Public Ground, Diamond Eleven trounced CMC Club by seven wickets.

CMC Club, batting first, were all out on for 106 in 18.3 overs. Pace duo of Mohammad Ali (4-25) and Mohammad Afzal (4-30) shared the bulk of wickets.

Diamond Eleven, in reply, reached their modest target as they collected 107-3 in 16.3 overs.

In the second game at Baqai Cricket Ground, PIB Eleven also enjoyed a seven-wicket success against 11-A Lions.

Despite Mohammad Ilyas scoring 40, 11-A Lions were bowled out for 120 as slow left-armer Ali Peerji captured four wickets for 22 runs.

Sabir Ali struck run-a-ball 51 with six fours and Furqan Khalil hit 50 off 51 balls (seven fours) to lead PIB Eleven’s run chase which was completed in only 14 overs.

Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Syed Shahid Ali, secretary of KCCA Zone II at a ceremony which attended by chief organiser Faisal Khatri, tournament secretary Shahid Rao, Zakir Khatri ,Sadiq Khatri, Haroon Tara, Ubaid Sonija, Uzair Wada, Moiz, Shahzad Patni, Hussain and Mohammad Nizam.
