ISLAMABAD: Senate Subcommittee on National Health Services (NHS) was informed on Monday that a number of people with fake matriculation certificates have become homeopathic doctors.

The meeting was originally held to discuss the delay in elections of Homeo Council but the discussion was diverted towards irregularities in the council.

Former Chairman of Examination Committee of Homeo Council Amanullah, while briefing the committee, claimed that a large number of students had fake matriculation certificates.

“Moreover, there were some members in former council, who were owners of many colleges. Besides, there are many colleges which do not even exist at their addresses available with the council, but new students are continuously being enrolled and degrees are issued to them,” he said.

Former president of the council, Dr Nasir Ahmed, raised the issue of irregularities in the voting list and claimed that the voters were registered in different districts and provinces rather than the area where they reside.

The chairperson of the Senate subcommittee, Kalsoom Parveen, however, directed the official concerned to finalise the council’s voters list.

Representative from the ministry of NHS assured the committee that the elections of the council would be held soon.
