KARACHI: Alamgir Gymkhana began their final-round campaign in the KCCA President Cup with a clinical 265-run rout of Fazl-ur-Rehman Sports Club at the KCCA Stadium here on Wednesday.

Batting first, Alamgir Gymkhana reached 288-4 in their allotted 45-over quota thanks to breezy knocks from S.M. Tahami, Gul Rehman and Ashir Ahmed.

Opener Tahami scored 60 from 70 balls with the aid of five boundaries before Gul and Ashir struck unbeaten half-centuries to boost the total.

Gul slammed 55 off 45 deliveries while hitting five fours and Ashir made a 43-ball 52 that included six boundaries.

Fazl-ur-Rehman Sports Club, in reply, collapsed spectacularly in dramatic fashion against the spin trio of Yasir Khan, Ashiq Ali and Hassaan Khan for a paltry 23 all out in 15.3 overs.

Leg-spinner Yasir claimed three wickets for as many runs, off-spinner Ashiq Ali took two wickets without conceding any run and slow left-armer grabbed two wickets for 11 runs.

Meanwhile, the match between Lines Area Gymkhana and Prince Imtiaz CC was abandoned without a ball being bowled at the TMC Ground due to rain.

Summarised scores:

ALAMGIR GYMKHANA 288-4 in 45 overs (S.M. Tahami 60, Gul Rehman 55 not out, Ashir Ahmed 52 not out); FAZL-UR-REHMAN SPORTS 23 in 15.3 overs (Yasir Khan 3-3, Ashiq Ali 2-0, Hassan Khan 2-11).
