Top seed Talal lifts U-10 title

KARACHI: Aug 10: Top seed Talal Dar outplayed Zarukkh 2-1 in the Under-10 boys event final of Pakistan Independence Day Tennis Championship held here at NORE-1 Tennis Courts, Queens Road on Sunday.

Playing aggressively from the beginning Talal took the first set convincingly 6-1. In the second set Zarukkh tried hard and gave some resistance by taking the second set 7-6. In the final set Talal regained his form and gave no chance to his opponent thus winning 6-0.

In Under-12 boys event final Mustafa Jamali beat his rival Umer Shahid by two straight sets. Young Mustafa played like a true champion and with the help of excellent and accurate rallies he overcame Umer by 6-2,6-1.

Ali Asghar Bandeali sailed into the final of U-14 boys event by beating his opponent Hasan Hamid in two straight sets. Ali completely outclassed his opponent in less then one hour and took the game by 6-0,6-0.

The Under-14 boys final will be played at 4:30 pm while Under-16 first round matches will be held in the morning.—PPI
