KARACHI, Aug 10: The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement has condemned the murder of five brothers, belonging to Tableeghi Jamaat, who were gunned down on Jehangir Road by armed terrorists riding a motorcycle.
It described the attack as a continuation of the conspiracies aimed at destroying peace in the city to materialize their nefarious designs.
The committee, in this context, referred to the killings of Muttahida workers Abid Ayub Ansari in Liaquatabad and Mohammad Adil in New Karachi and said that the conspirators, by creating law and order, wanted to prove that the Sindh government had failed in achieving its objectives.
It appealed to the people belonging to all schools of thought not to be provoked from the terrorists’ actions and foil such conspiracies by maintaining peace.
The committee urged the president, prime minister and Sindh chief minister to take notice of the gruesome killing of the five brothers and ensure exemplary punishment to the culprits.
GOVERNOR: Taking notice of the killing of five brothers in an armed attack on Jahangir Road on Saturday, Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has ordered the concerned authorities to utilize all their capabilities to arrest the culprits.
He has also directed them to improve security arrangements in the city.
Dr Ibad expressed sorrow over the tragic incident and offered his heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family.
According to a spokesman for the Governor House, Dr Ibad asked the Capital City Police to arrest those responsible as soon as possible.
CHEMISTS BODY: The Wholesale Chemist Council has announced a day of mourning on Monday for the five brothers who were murdered in cold blood on Saturday night by unidentified gunmen. The victims were prominent traders in medicines and senior members of the WCC.
The council has also postponed its convention scheduled for Monday and aimed at chalking out a strategy for a nationwide strike by chemists in support of its demand for the restoration of their five per cent commission.
The President of WCC, Haji Muhammad Hanif Blue, and the chief of its Karachi division chapter, Ghulam Muhammad Noorani, in a joint statement expressed their shock and grief over the gruesome multiple killing. They appealed to all the wholesale chemists to keep their shops and markets in Karachi closed on Monday to mourn the deaths.
They also informed the members the new date for the postponed convention would be announced later.
