Talha causes major upset

KARACHI, Aug 9: Talha Dar caused the biggest upset of the Independence Day junior Sindh Ranking tennis tournament on Saturday when humbled top seed Zubair Raza 8-5 in the semifinal of the boys Under-10 event at Nore-One Navy Court.

Another top seed Ghulam Abbas also made exit for being 2 1/2 hours late in the boys Under-12 when his opponent Omer Shahid was awarded walk over.

Earlier on Friday all the seeds moved into the next round on the first day of the championship.

Boys Under-14: Ghulam Abbas bt Salman Ahmed 6-1, 6-0; Daniyal Alvi bt Kamran 6-0, 6-0; Rizwan Rajani bt Nasir Mushtaq 6-0,6-0; Talha Dar bt Zahir Ahmed 6-1 (retired)
