MIRPURKHAS, Aug 9: The growers have condemned the ‘illegal’ practices of cotton factory owners of giving low prices to them on different pretexts.
In a joint statement, the president of Sindh Agriculture Growers Development Association, Rais Ahmed Khan, district general secretary, Sindh Abadgar Board, Imtiaz Panhwar and President Taluka Growers Association Mohammad Moosa Mahar expressed concern over the practice of cotton factories and demanded action against them.
They said factories were deducing two and half kilograms to three kilograms per maund cotton on the pretext of moisturizing and dust. They regretted a ban on the use of gunny bags which, they claimed, was benefiting factory owners. They demanded of the government to order the use of gunny bags.
