PM’s son Hussain Nawaz flies off to Qatari capital

RAWALPINDI: Hussain Nawaz, the elder son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, left Islamabad for the Qatari capital on Thursday, with many analysts suggesting he had gone to Doha in order to convince Qatar’s former premier Prince Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani to appear before the joint investigating team (JIT) probing allegations of money laundering against the Sharif family.

According to sources, Mr Nawaz left for Doha aboard the Qatar Airways flight QR-615 at about 9.55am. A late-night report said that Mr Nawaz stayed in Doha for five hours and met some important people there. Later, he flew to London.

In London, he will meet former chairman of the Ehtesab Bureau, Saifur Rehman, who has also been in the UK capital these days.

Leaders of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have been claiming that investigations into the Panama Papers case would remain incomplete without recording of a statement to be made by the Qatari prince.

The investigation of JIT would be incomplete if the ex-QATARI Premiers accepts to meet the JIT in Pakistani jurisdiction because he has submitted his letter in Pakistani jurisdiction now he has to meet the JIT in Pakistani jurisdiction or a neutral place . His meeting with the JIT without any concrete evidence would be of no use

NS's close friendship with the Saudis is coming to hound him at the wrong time. Just when he needs the Qataris and the Qataris are being falsely accused of all sorts of mischief. That's why a person is known by the company he keeps. Qataris no doubt have no love lost for Saudis or their friends.

Money trail for purchase of Mayfair property would be on a three or four page bank statement which the defence is not providing to SC or JIT. The court needs to know source of funds and how finds were remitted to buy the apartment. Were taxes paid on the funds generated? I think most important point is to determine if funds were earned from legitimate means or not. If Sharif family can kindly submit the aforementioned bank statement our national life can achieve some degree of normalcy.

If the Sharif's have to run to the Qataris for last ditch effort to save themselves from the impending verdict, it could not come at the worst time for them. With NS's close ties to the Saudi Royal Family, appointment of Raheel Sharif to lead the so-called 'alliance' which Qatar is not part of and even word, NS's silence after the Saudis and Emiratees cut ties with Qatar and imposed embargo on the small state - is all going to cost the Sharifs dearly. I am sure Qataris are in no mood to come to Pakistan to help NS, when they have more urgent matters to attend to.

@Saif Zulfiqar And who funded the Madrasas that gave birth to the Talibans? The Saudis! Get your facts right. Qataris were the only country to help mediate between the Afghan government and the Talibans, at the request of the US State Department, to facilitate the transfer of Afghan prisoners released from Guentanamo Bay prison. So all their actions were known to key players and sanctioned by them in close cooperation with all parties.
