Safeer, Yasir clash in final

ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: Safeerullah Khan and Yasir Butt qualified for Saturday’s final of the CAS National Junior Squash Championship in Peshawar with four games semifinal victories over their opponents on Friday.

PAF’s Safeer downed Khalid Atlas of Army 2-9, 9-6, 9-1, 9-6 in the first semifinal while Yasir, of Punjab eliminated Shah Nawaz of Mari Gas 5-9, 9-4, 9-0, 9-1.

In the under-17 semifinals, PAF’s Farhan Mahboob continued his fine run in the championship with a 9-3, 9-2, 8-10, 9-5 victory over Bilal Zaman of Punjab.

He will now play Adil Atlas, who defeated Alamzeb Jnr 9-5, 9-6, 9-0, in the final.

Zahir Shah advanced to the under-15 final, scoring a 9-0, 9- 3, 9-7 win over Waqar Ahmed while Amir Atlas knocked out Alamzeb Jnr 9-5, 9-6, 9-0.

The under-13 decider will see Waqar Mahboob taking on Shoaib Hassan as both players scored straight games victories in the semifinals.

Waqar outplayed Waqas Mehboob 9-1, 9-4, 9-3 and Shoaib beat Danish Atlas 9-3, 9-1, 9-1.
