ISLAMABAD: An official of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and a boy drowned in separate incidents.

The IHC official, Sabir Hussain, 45, went to the Indus River at Ziyarat Bela in Jand along with his friends on June 30 for swimming.

He was the personal secretary of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and was on summer vacation.

He was scheduled to resume his duties on Monday.

According to his friend, he was a good swimmer. When he went deep into the river he disappeared as he could not withstand powerful tides. His friends could not rescue him as none of them knew swimming.

He said that Hussain’s body had not been recovered till the filing of this report as the Navy divers searched 25 km radius of the river.

Meanwhile, Yasir Ali, 12, was walking along the Nullah Leh bank in Hazara Colony, Pirwadhai on Monday when he slipped into the water and drowned.

Later, his body was fished out and shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.
