BADIN, Aug 8: Four more decomposed bodies were recovered from coastal Mard Malir and Walhari dehs on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Bashiran Lashari, Faqir Mohammad Mehran, Saddam Hussain and Zarina.
Meanwhile, the death toll at relief camps rose to nine as an infant and a woman, Amna, died of illness at a relief camp established at the Badin Central Jail.
Talking to this correspondent, many women said no dry milk was being supplied to them at relief camps to feed their infants.
They said relief camps were overcrowded which had resulted in spread of various diseases.
DONATION: The Sindh minister for communication, Arbab Ghulam Raheem, has said employees of his department have donated their one-day salary for rain victims.
Talking to journalists here on Thursday, he said the amount was deposited in the relief fund.
He said Thar was badly affected by torrential rains and President Gen Pervez Musharraf would be requested to visit the district.
HEALTH: Doctors and paramedical staff are treating rain victims at relief camps and women health workers are creating awareness among the affected people regarding preventive measures. This was said by Sindh Health Secretary Ashiq Hussain while talking to journalists here on Thursday.
He said the situation was in control and the people were being properly looked after.
The director-general, Sindh health services, said a huge stock of medicines was available and more medicines worth Rs1 million had been purchased.
He said four more doctors were suspended from their services for remaining absent from their duties.
Sindh National Programme for Primary Healthcare coordinator Dr Abdul Majeed Dr Mehboob Ali informed the journalists that 65,000 people had been treated in rain-affected areas.
