LAHORE: A PIA plane coming from Abu Dhabi made an emergency landing at Lahore airport on Wednesday after a bird hit it.

An PIA official told Dawn the PIA flight coming from Abu Dhabi was landing at the Allama Iqbal Airport on Saturday morning when a bird hit it.

“The pilot however made a successful landing despite some damage to the aircraft (because of the bird hit),” the official said.

He said the plane was to be used for a Dubai flight which was delayed for four hours as aircraft engineers examined it.

Meanwhile, the schedule of a number of domestic and international flights was affected owing to inclement weather.

According to PIA, PK-301 Islamabad to Karachi, PK-702 Manchester to Islamabad, PK-745 Sialkot to Jeddah, PK-760 Jeddah to Sialkot, PK-751 Lahore to Oslo, PK-752 Oslo to Lahore, PK-247 Lahore to Damam, PK-248 Dammam to Lahore, PK-204 Dubai to Lahore, PK-583 Lahore to RY Khan, PK-536 Karachi to Sukkur, PK-307 Lahore to Karachi, PK-713 Islamabad to Medina, PK-714 Media to Islamabad, PK-451 Islamabad to Skardu, PK-452 Skardu to Islamabad, PK-652 Lahore to Islamabad, PK-270 Lahore to Delhi, PK-271 Delhi to Lahore, PK-607 Islamabad to Gilgit and PK-608 Gilgit to Islamabad and PK-313 Lahore to Karachi were delayed or diverted due to inclement weather.

The PIA said it facilitated the passengers during the delays and tried to operate the flights upon clearance from the meteorological department.
