ISLAMABAD: The Met Office has predicted the onset of monsoon in Pakistan in the coming days, and winds from the east are already penetrating the country, bringing thick, moisture-filled clouds.

Hot and humid conditions across the country, including in the Potohar region, incited cool, moist winds from the east, mostly from the region south of Nepal, which is collided with cool dry winds from the west.

The Eid holidays are likely to be pleasant, apart from rain and dust storms that are expected in isolated locations in the Zhob, Kalat, Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala division, Islamabad, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and Kashmir.

Light rainfall and drizzle are also expected at a few places along the Sindh coast.

A Met Office spokesperson said the monsoon season, presently giving rainfall over central parts of India, is heading towards Pakistan.

Monsoon currents will begin to penetrate Pakistan late Monday night and Tuesday morning, bringing rainfall and thundershowers at a number of places in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir between Monday and Friday.

The Met Office has also predicted rain and thundershowers with strong winds at scattered locations in lower Sindh and eastern Balochistan between Wednesday and Saturday.
