KARACHI: A reception was hosted by Governor of Sindh Mohammad Zubair for Pakistan’s cricket star and former Test captain Younis Khan at the Governor House here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Zubair said Pakistan had produced world-class cricketers.

“Younis who brought good name for the country in the game, is a shining example for the young players,” he added. “He holds the record for most Test runs and centuries for Pakistan, and led the country to victory in the 2009 World Twenty20.”

The governor in his talk also mentioned Pakistan’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy final at The Oval last Sunday, saying the magnificent triumph was a gift to the nation on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Younis, in his speech, said whatever he was today, it was because of Pakistan, adding he would always be ready to serve the country.

“My father shifting to Karachi was the turning point in my life as this city played a major role in my cricketing career,” the 118-Test veteran added.

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif, first-class player Haris Khan and Test opener Shan Masood also spoke on the occasion.
