KASUR: As many as 20 suspects, including a former PPP MPA and two of his sons, were booked for allegedly torturing and injuring a police party and getting a ‘drug pusher’ released here on Sunday at Halla Chowk in Pattoki police precincts.

The suspects also tore apart uniforms of the police personnel. According to FIR, SI Muhammad Ali had held a picket following a tip off to arrest a drug pusher. Meanwhile, the police party arrested two alleged drug pushers and recovered six bottles of liquor from one of them.

Later, former MPA Muhammad Amjad along with his two sons Hamza, Danial and other suspects reached the spot and exchanged harsh words with the police. The suspects forced the police to release the drug pusher. On refusal, the suspects armed with weapons manhandled the police officials and injured Safdar Ali, Maqbool Ahmed and Shakeel Ahmed. The suspects also tore apart the clothes of constables Shakeel Ahmed and Maqbool and SI Muhammad Ali. The suspects also got released alleged drug pusher Sohaib.

Pattoki police have registered a case against 20 suspects, including 12 unidentified under sections 395, 324, 353, 224, 225, 186, 506/B, 148 and 149 0f PPC, 13-2(A)/2015 of Amended ordinance PAO, and 3/4/4/79 of PHO.

Police were raiding for the arrest of suspects.

CRACKDOWN: Kasur police have launched a campaign against wheelie doers on the eve of Eid.

According to police, they are using all resources, including social media, to raise awareness among the people against one wheelie. Police would also hold pickets on Ferozepur and Ganda Singh roads on the Eid day for the purpose.
