ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Thursday held a meeting with PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi to discuss the ongoing dialogue with the MMA.

The meeting, held at the residence of Chaudhry Shujaat, discussed the progress so far made, with special reference to the constitutional package which was under consideration to overcome the current political impasse.

The three expressed satisfaction on the pace and outcome of the dialogue.

They hoped that sanity will prevail in the rank and file of the opposition and they will come forward to strengthen the government’s hands to run parliament effectively so that the fruits of democracy could reach the common man.

Matters pertaining to the PML-Q’s re-organization and constitution of standing and parliamentary committees also came under discussion.

Chaudhry Pervez Elahi apprised the prime minister of the relief operation being undertaken by his government in the rain-hit and flood-affected areas of Punjab, especially in the district of Sialkot and tehsil Pasroor. —APP
