LAHORE: Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and district police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested seven suspects in joint Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) in eight villages of Mandi Bahauddin district.

According to a news release, Rangers along with CTD, police and intelligence agencies carried out joint operations in surrounding areas of Mandi Bahauddin district and Nilore, Islamabad. During the operation, the law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) searched 200 houses and arrested seven suspects.

The LEAs also recovered a huge quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition from their possession.

A senior police officer on condition of anonymity told Dawn that the LEAs conducted operation in Khizer, Malkwal, Majhi and Kharwali villages.

He said they arrested seven suspects and recovered prohibited weapons from their possession and shifted them to undisclosed location for interrogation.

The official was of the view that the suspected militants went into hiding and the law enforcers were conducting operation after receiving information about them.
