PESHAWAR: Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that pre-monsoon currents are likely to penetrate the northern regions that will produce rains in upper and central parts of the country.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the Met office said that rain/dust-thundershower with gusty winds was expected at scattered places of Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan from Monday to Friday.

Rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at scattered places of Malakand division form Monday (evening) to Saturday.

The statement cautioned the departments concerned and agencies to make necessary precautionary measures to avoid any loss of life and damage to public as well as private property.

Certain parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal area received heavy rains and hailstorms. According to reports rains lashed parts of Lower Dir district while light hailstone hit pockets in Kurram Agency on Sunday evening.

An official of the Met office said that rains would bring temperature down in plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
