KHUZDAR: A strike was observed in Wadh town on Monday after an attack on the residence of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal a day earlier.

A rocket hit the gate of Mr Mengal’s house in town early in the morning with official sources saying it was fired from an unknown place. The gate was damaged badly. Sardar Attaullah Mengal and Sardar Akhtar Mengal were not in the house at the time of the attack. The party had called for the strike after the incident and in response, shops and all markets in town remained closed on Monday.Holding placards and banners, workers and supporters of the party marched through main roads in protest, shouting slogans against the government.

Party leaders Mujahid Umrani and Abdul Jabbar Mengal condemned the attack and claimed that it was an attack on the entire province. They demanded that the government take serious notice of the rocket attack and expose the people behind it.

“The house attacked was not just Sardar Akthar Mengal and Sardar Attaullah Mengal’s residence — it is the entire Baloch nation’s home,” said Mr Umrani, adding that the Baloch people knew how to protect their families and homes.
