KHUZDAR: A rocket hit the gate of the residence of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, president of the Balochistan National Party, in his native town of Wadh on Sunday.

Official sources said the rocket was fired in the early hours from an unknown place, damaging the main gate of the house badly.

“The rocket landed and exploded at the main gate of the house,” Abdullah Baloch, the SHO of Wadh, said, adding that no casualty took place in the explosion.

Sardar Ataullah Mengal and Sardar Akhtar Mengal were not in the house when the attack took place.

“Sardar Akhtar Mengal is abroad nowadays while Sardar Ataullah Mengal is out of Wadh,” the police officer said.

The watchman and other staff of Sardar Mengal were inside the house.

Commissioner of Kalat division Mohammad Hashim Ghilzai, FC Commander Lt Col Fazal Rasool Qadri, Khuzdar Range DIG Mohammad Zafar Ali, DPO Abdul Rauf Bareach and other officials visited the explosion site and collected evidence.

Police have registered a case and started investigation. No-one has claimed responsibility for the rocket attack.
