ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: The Central Board of Revenue has allowed sales tax audit of listed companies in the location of manufacturing premises to facilitate the taxpayers.

According to the sales tax notification issued on Wednesday, the facility would be allowed in case of such listed companies whose registered premises and manufacturing were situated in different collectorates.

The facility was not allowed earlier which caused inconvenience to the listed companies to shifting records from one place to another. The decision was taken through an amendment made in the registration, voluntary registration and de-registration rules, 1996.

The notification reads: “Provided that in case of such listed public limited companies whose registered premises and manufacturing premises are situated in different collectorates, audit under section 25 and section 38 read with section 40A of the Act, may also be carried out by the collectorate where the manufacturing premises are located.”
