KARACHI, Aug 6: Traffic jams at Nazimabad roundabout and Lasbella intersection were witnessed on the second consecutive day owing to the closure of Nawab Siddique Ali Khan Road in Gulbahar on Wednesday.

Police said that the road was closed as the debris of a road- facing plot, which was demolished on a court order, were placed on the main road.

“We have provided assistance to the staff of the court. The rubble of the demolished structure was placed on the road, as there was no space nearby the plot”, Sub-inspector Bashir at the Gulbahar police station said.

He said that the road was closed as the rubble had made impossible for the vehicles to pass through.

The authorities concerned initiated their operation to remove the rubble in the morning, which continued till evening. After the removal of the rubble, the road was reopened for vehicular movement.

Due to the road closure for the two consecutive days, the traffic congestions were witnessed at Nazimabad roundabout and Lasbella intersection. The traffic flow was diverted to alternative routes at the two points causing immense problems to commuters and motorists.

The traffic diversions resulted in traffic mess up at both the ends and the motorists and commuters in public transport got stuck in the deluge of vehicles.
