ISLAMABAD: Scores of PML-N supporters, including the managing director of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), were booked for trying to forcefully enter the Judicial Academy during the appearance of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son before the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers leaks case on Friday.

According to the FIR, several police officers were deployed around the Judicial Academy along with four police reserves as Hussain Nawaz was scheduled to appear before the JIT. Barbed wires were also put in front of the gate. However, the ruling party supporters, including the PTDC chief Abdul Ghafoor, arrived there at around 3:40pm and tried to break the security rings and enter the building, said the police. “When intercepted, the PML-N supporters threatened the police officials with consequences.”

On the complaint of Deputy Superintendent of Police Ghulam Baqir, a case was registered against them under section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of their functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of their duty), 500 (punishment for defamation) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
