PESHAWAR, Aug 5: The Secretariat Employees Coordination Council here on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration asking the government to arrest the killers of a driver of the Secretary to Chief Minister Akram Durrani.

The driver was shot dead while returning from Dir to Peshawar along with Secretary to the Chief Minister on Monday.

The protesters marched on the roads and raised slogans against the police for their failure to arrest the killers of Darvesh.

They reached the Chief Minister House where they staged a sit-in for some time and demanded arrest of the killers, compensation of Rs1 million to the heirs of the deceased and employment to the son of the driver.

Meanwhile, the Class IV employees association of the NWFP continued their strike for the 12th consecutive day on Tuesday. Leaders of the association on this occasion expressed concern over the apathy of the government towards the resolution of their problems.

They asked the government to hold talks with the employees to save the situation from going out of control.

They demanded of the government to announce a service structure for the Class IV employees, give them promotion to next scales on the basis of advance qualifications and award them increments.

They said that an emergency meeting of the association would be held on Aug 7 to discuss future action.
