MIRPURKHAS, Aug 5: Ten-year old boy Azhar Ali, son of Mushtaq Ahmed, died and seven members of his family were injured when the roof of a room of their house collapsed in Hameedpura colony here on Tuesday.

The injured, Noorjahan, 26, Iqbal, 30, Mushtaq, 35, Zaheer 2, Ikram, 6, Faiza, 13, and Ishtiaq, 10, were taken to the Civil Hospital where condition of two of them was stated to be critical.

Mirpurkhas District Nazim Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani and DCO Dr Mohammad Siddiq Memon reached the spot to express condolence with bereaved family. The Nazim assured the family of compensation.

He said that a survey of losses caused by rains was continuing in the district and after its completion, the affected people would be given financial assistance for repair of houses.

HESCO: Mirpurkhas Income Tax Bar Association has expressed concern over poor performance of the Hesco staff of Hirabad sub- division.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, the general secretary of the association, Haji Abdul Ghafoor Mahar, said that hundreds of power consumers had been issued detection bills without any justification.

He accused the Hesco SDO and line superintendents of the area of receiving bribe from domestic consumers for correcting the bills and from factory owners for power supply through tempered meters.
