KARACHI: Police registered a case against PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi on Sunday over charges of using threatening language against the judiciary, public servants and disrupting judicial proceedings, according to officials.

Bahadurabad police registered an FIR (112/2017) against Nehal Hashmi on behalf of the state.

The case was registered under Sections 189 (threat of injury to public servant), 228 (intentional insult or interruption to public servant sitting in judicial proceeding) and 505 (statements inciting public mischief) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The attorney general had asked the Sindh prosecutor general on Saturday to initiate proceedings against Nehal Hashmi over his remarks since the speech was made in Karachi.
