Microwave pizza

At Iftar time you want to eat all kinds of yummy things, but it’s not easy to go out and buy it from a restaurant when everyone is fasting and busy in getting ready for breaking the fast. But with some smart planning and help from mum, you can make yourself a pizza whenever the urge hits you.

All you need to do is buy and store things like ready-made pizza bread/base, cheese, pizza sauce (my mum has made a lot of it and frozen it for Ramazan) or tomato ketchup and even chilli garlic sauce, and any flavour of cooked chicken or any other meat. The topping on the pizza is totally up to you and what you have available as it is a very versatile dish.

Assembling this pizza takes minutes and cooking it takes just two minutes in the microwave.

Ingredients

• 1 ready-made pizza bread
• 1/2 cup chicken pieces, cooked
• 1/2 cup pizza sauce/tomato ketchup/chilli garlic sauce
• 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
• 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
• 1 small tomato, sliced
• 1 small onion sliced
• 1/4 capsicum or slices of 1 large green chilli

Method:

Place the pizza bread on a microwave proof plate. Now spread pizza sauce/ketchup on the base, then sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese and then the chicken. Now top with the vegetables, and lastly top with mozzarella cheese. Cook in the microwave for two minutes. The base will be well cooked and the cheese will melt but you will not get a brown toasted look on top as this can only be achieved in the oven. You can also bake this in the oven, it should take not more than eight to ten minutes, but ask an adult to handle the oven for you.

Tip: This pizza base/bread is easily available in shops and can be stored in the freezer for weeks. To use, just place them outside for 10 minutes and assemble the pizza. You can also use regular bread sliced if you don’t have a pizza base and it will still turn out finger-licking good!
