ISLAMABAD, Aug 4: Senior journalist and Editor of Quaid-i- Azam Papers Project Syed Athar Hosain Shah died of cardiac arrest at a local hospital on Monday at 3pm at the age of 65. He is survived by a widow, a son and three daughters.

Syed Athar Hosain Shah suffered heart attack on Sunday at 2pm and was admitted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

His funeral will be taken from his residence, House No 559, Street 99, G-9/4. His funeral prayers will be offered at Markazi Imambargah sector G-6/2, near Capital Hospital, on Tuesday at 1.30pm. He will be laid to rest at the Islamabad Graveyard.

The late Shah, did his post-graduation in philosophy from Government College, Lahore, in the early 50s.

He joined The Pakistan Times, as sub-editor in the early 1960s where he worked for over 20 years, giving training to a large number of sub-editors. He was a very competent, diligent sub-editor.

Syed Athar Hosain also served as director public relations, Pakistan Agriculture Research Centre.

Later he joined Quaid-i-Azam Papers Project. There he worked with Dr Zawar Hussain Zaidi until he suffered heart attack on Sunday.

He had life long interest in philosophy especially the philosophy of Jean Paul Sartre. He was a liberal person.

He was a voracious reader of modern English and Urdu fiction and poetry.
