SUKKUR, Aug 4: Hundreds of people belonging to the Miani Ghulam Hussain village in Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki district, on Monday blocked the highway by putting the bodies of two brothers who had been killed by dacoits.
The DCO and DPO, Ghotki, arrived at the site where a traffic jam had been caused.
On seeing the police, the protesters started raising slogans against them and became violent.
The latter ended their protest when the officials assured them that the dacoits would be arrested within 48 hours.
It may be recalled that five dacoits barged into the house of two brothers, Mohammad Azeem and A. Wasayo, and were trying to rustle their cattle. Both the brothers offered resistance. The dacoits opened fire and killed them on the spot.
LOOTED: Eight armed men started looting the passengers of a Sukkur-bound wagon, near the railway crossing in the limits of the Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station, Shikarpur district, on Sunday night.
However, when police arrived there, the armed men fled away firing in the air.
No case had been registered till the filing of this report.
GANG LEADER ARRESTED: The leader of an inter-provincial gang, Haroon Bangali, involved in kidnapping and selling women, was arrested by the Pano Aqil police on Sunday night.
The police raided the house of one Muneer Shaikh in Thikrato and arrested Haroon. Two married women, Kauser Qurban and Samina Akbar, were also recovered from there. Both had been kidnapped from Bahawalpur.
RELIEF: The additional inspector general police, Sukkur Region, Rahoo Khan Brohi, has announced a donation of Rs5 million for the Chief Minister Sindh Relief Fund.
The amount is equivalent to the one-day salary of the police officials of the region.
ACCIDENT: A man, Ghulam Hussain Dakhan, was accidentally crushed to death under the wheels of a dumper, near Saleh Pat, Sukkur district, late Sunday night.
