LAHORE: Country’s most successful Test captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, will become first recipient of the Imtiaz Ahmed Spirit of Cricket Trophy, a new initiative of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), during the Annual General Body meeting on Thursday.

Misbah, who retired from Test cricket after winning the series against the West Indies, will cash award of Rs500,000 along with the trophy.

A PCB committee selected Misbah as the winner of the first award. The committee also picked up youngsters Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali in the category of upcoming cricketers for the year 2016-17.

Prof Mohammad Anees will also get the award as the best match referee in domestic cricket while his name was also recommended for the ICC supplementary panel.
