SANGHAR, Aug 3: The Sindh irrigation department has suspended water supply to the Nara Canal from the Sukkur Barrage.

As a result, waterways originating from the Jamrao, Mithrao and Khipro canals have gone dry since Thursday.

There is no water even for drinking purpose in several towns dependent on the Nara Canal system.

The closure of the canal has resulted in a drought-like situation as there is no alternate system to get water and underground water is not fit for human consumption.

INSECTS: Mosquitoes, flies and other insects have swarmed all over Sanghar district after rains.

The infestation of the insects around rain puddles have made people vulnerable to diseases like malaria and gastroenteritis. The eye infection has already spread in the district.
