CHARSADDA: In a series of attacks, assailants threw grenades at a school and planted explosive devices in four homes of Shabqadar tehsil, wounding at least 14 people on Friday night, said police.

Police officials said explosive devices planted in the Mosal Koroona area of Saro police station division blew off at night, leaving at least 11 people injured. The explosion created panic in the area.

Security forces and personnel of paramilitary Swat Scouts rushed to the spot after the incident and shifted the injured to a hospital.

In another incident in the same area, a school watchman and a boy were injured when explosives planted at the main entrance of a private school went off at night. The explosion occurred when the watchman, Zakria, opened the school gate, the police officials said quoting Zakria. A boy passing by the school also sustained injuries, they added.

The grenade attacks occurred in Mero Kali area within the jurisdiction of the Shabqadar police station, simultaneously, according to the police.

Unidentified attackers hurled a grenade at the house of one Mian Sakhi, in Mero Kali, which left his young son injured.

At the same time, a hand grenade was hurled at the house of Bakhtawar Shah, a cleric of the Frontier Corps, in Mero Kali, which killed a cow inside the house, but nobody was injured.

The Shabqadar and Saro police stations registered separate cases and launched a search operation to trace the assailants.
